A Fabric Module connects the line cards and the supervisors together in a Nexus 7000/7700 Chassis. Cisco Nexus introduced FAB1 along with N7K and moved to higher performance FAB2 to meet the increasing industry demand. The addition of each fabric module increases the bandwidth to all module slots. There are many similarities between FAB1 and FAB2 with few being –
- N7K chassis support max of 5 Fabric modules.
- FAB1 & FAB2 modules are both forward and backward compatible.
