CAT5e vs CAT6
With invent of new and high throughput IT infrastructure to support ever creasing demand of real time and bandwidth hungry applications, IT vendors are working hard to produce passive infrastructure which meets these requirements.CAT 6 category of cables have been introduced considering the high performance experience to end users considering minimal Signal to Noise ratio.

This article will focus on comparison of CAT 5e and CAT 6 cabling.
While both CAT 5e and CAT 6 providing Gigabit Ethernet upto distance of 100 Meters, CAT6 has the edge since it provides upto 10 Gbps speeds which CAT 5 lags due to low SNR ratio and high interference. Though CAT 6 supports high bandwidth, it comes at a higher price and should be judiciously planned considering IT budget or organizations. Like for small offices with no plan to grow in size, CAT 5e should be the optimal choice while Head Office may surely consider CAT6 as a good proposition.
