What is Juniper MAG SSL VPN
Juniper MAG SSL VPN was a remote access appliance developed by Juniper Networks that provided secure remote connectivity for users accessing corporate networks. It was part of Juniper’s MAG Series (Mobile Access Gateway) and leveraged SSL VPN (Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network) technology.
Features of Juniper MAG SSL VPN
- Secure Remote Access: Allowed employees, partners, and customers to securely connect to internal resources from anywhere using a web browser.
- Client and Clientless Access: Supported both web-based (clientless) access for applications like email, and full VPN tunnels via Juniper’s Pulse Secure client.
- Integration with Authentication Systems: Worked with LDAP, Active Directory, RADIUS, and multifactor authentication for user verification.
- Granular Access Control: Enforced policies based on user roles, device compliance, and location.
- Endpoint Security (Host Checker): Ensured that connected devices met security policies (e.g., antivirus, OS patch level).
- High Availability & Scalability: Could be deployed in clusters for redundancy and supported thousands of concurrent users.

End-of-Life (EOL) & Replacement
Juniper discontinued the MAG Series and its SSL VPN capabilities. Pulse Secure (now part of Ivanti) took over the SSL VPN business, and Ivanti Connect Secure is its modern equivalent.
