Stackwise Plus architecture was introduced with 3750-X series catalyst switch product line while Stackwise -480 was introduced with 3850 catalyst Switch product line. Clearly StackWise-480 is the superior architecture in comparison to Stackwise Plus. StackWise-480 is a dual redundant ring architecture with individual links operating at 240Gbps bidirectionally. The StackWise-480 connections are not pure Ethernet links but rather a dual ring architecture, allowing packets to take either ring.
